Stateside pharmaceutical company Pfizer and German Biontech are seeking permission from the authorities to use their coronary vaccine among children under five. Pfizer says in its bulletinthat companies are applying for permission to vaccinate those who have reached the age of six months.

Pfizer-Biontech is seeking permission from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for a two-dose vaccine series, although it appears from a study to date that children 2 to 4 years of age may need three doses of the vaccine.

The results of a drug trial to determine the need for a third dose are expected in the coming months. However, permission to vaccinate is now being sought so that parents can start vaccinating their children if they wish.
