According to US intelligence, bin Salman had approved the murder of Khashoggi. Saudi authorities have denied that the crown prince was responsible for the murder.

Biden with his visit, aims for the world’s largest crude oil producer to open its oil taps to the limit in order to reduce the price of fuel. The price of fuel threatens the chances of the Democratic Party represented by Biden in the upcoming midterm elections in the fall.

“I’m doing everything I can to increase shipments to the United States,” he said.

However, according to Biden, the results of the visit can only be seen in a few weeks.

Biden will meet the leaders of the countries of the Arab Gulf Cooperation Council in Saudi Arabia on Saturday.

British and US parliamentarians have demanded that Biden discuss human rights violations, and the president of Egypt, who is also participating in Saturday’s meeting Abdel Fattah al-Sisi with.

“Travel restrictions and bank account freezes form an important part of the Egyptian authorities’ comprehensive architecture of repression. It also includes holding thousands of people in pretrial detention, often without any evidence of crimes,” the letter addressed to Biden on Friday said.

The signatories of the letter include, among others, a US senator Bernie Sanders and former leader of the British Labor Party Jeremy Corbyn.

According to human rights organizations, there are currently around 60,000 political prisoners in Egypt.
