Actor Alec Baldwin has settled a civil suit over a death on the set of the movie Rust.
American actor Alec Baldwin has settled a civil suit with the family of the cameraman he accidentally shot in October last year.
Baldwin was rehearsing a scene on the set of Rust. He had a handgun that was only supposed to have bang charges. However, there was a real bullet in the gun, and Baldwin shot the 42-year-old photographer Halyna Hutchins and injured the director Joel Souza.
“Throughout this difficult process, everyone has specifically wanted to act in a way that would be best for Halyna’s son,” Baldwin wrote when announcing the agreement on Instagram.
Details there was no information about the contract, which also applies to the film’s production company.
The filming of Rust is scheduled to resume in January. Hutchins’ widow by Matthew Hutchins is set to serve as one of the film’s producers.
Other civil lawsuits have been filed in connection with the case. Authorities have also not ruled out the possibility of bringing charges against Baldwin and others deemed involved.
