Unions in the crosshairs: an envelope with a bullet and threats was delivered to the Fim-Cisl
After the assault on the CGIL headquarters in Rome, another bad episode to the detriment of the unions: an envelope containing a bullet and an anonymous letter of threats were delivered to the secretary of the Fim-CISL Tuscany, Alessandro Beccastrini.
The CISL commented “yet another intimidating act” stating that “it will not make us step back an inch in our commitment, determined and constant, alongside the workers. Episodes like this, on the contrary, strengthen our conviction even more in participating in the unitary demonstration next Saturday in Rome“.
“Because every threat, every abuse, every violence, which is addressed to the confederal trade union and the democratic institutions of this country, should not be ignored, nor underestimated, but needs that those who sincerely believe in democracy and non-violence make their voice heard , clear and strong “.
“The attack on the union does not stop,” he adds Dalida Angelini, general secretary of CGIL Toscana. “On Saturday 16 October we will be in Rome for a large joint demonstration and for a strong democratic response to the threats and assaults of the fascist squads”.
Solidarity also from the secretary general Uil Toscana Annalisa Nocentini. “After what happened last Saturday in Rome – he underlines -, another episode that gives the dimension of the climate of tension that is being experienced in the country. The union was, and will remain, a defense of democracy and freedom on which female workers will always be able to count as a place for discussion and dialogue. We will also be in Rome to reiterate that the union does not allow itself to be intimidated by those who do not recognize themselves in the founding values of the Constitution “
The Florentine deputy of the Democratic Party Rosa Maria Di Giorgi expressed his solidarity with the CISL, stigmatizing “a climate towards which we must all be very careful, we must not minimize or pass over in silence. The judiciary will carry out its investigations, but I want to appeal to all political forces to keep keep your guard up “.
Also the MEP of the League Susanna Ceccardi expressed his solidarity: “I too have received threats of this kind in the past and I understand how shocking it can be for those who work in institutions to receive an envelope with a bullet and an anonymous letter with threats. I am sure that the police will deliver as soon as possible to justice the author of this ignoble and cowardly gesture “.
