The European Union ‘turns off’ the media controlled by Moscow. “Let’s stop the Kremlin’s media machine. Russia Today and Sputnik, controlled by the Russian state, and their subsidiaries will no longer be able to spread their lies to justify Vladimir Putin’s war and sow division of the Union,” says the president of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, at a press conference in Brussels. High Representative Josep Borrell explains that “broadcasting in the EU” of RT and Sputnik will be banned. “Let’s kill the snake by crushing its head,” he concludes.
Meanwhile, as CNN reports, YouTube is also taking action: the platform has blocked the broadcaster RT from Ukraine and has frozen the ability of TV to monetize its contents globally.
