According to Ukrainian sources, Russian saboteurs wanted to pretend to be members of the territorial units – and thus get to Kyiv. The group also planned acts of sabotage in the government district.
Kyiv – The Ukrainian counterintelligence has stopped a possible assassination attempt on President Volodymyr Zelenskyj according to its own statements.
A group of Russian saboteurs, led by a secret service agent, were arrested in the city of Uzhgorod in the border triangle between Ukraine, Slovakia and Hungary, Unian agency reports.
In addition to the attack on Zelenskyy in Kyiv, the order of the approximately 25 men also included the execution of a series of acts of sabotage in the government district and in other parts of the Ukraine. They wanted to pretend to be members of the territorial units of Ukraine and get to Kyiv that way. The information could not be independently verified.
According to the Ukrainian account, Russian espionage squads have tried several times since the beginning of the war to penetrate Kyiv and eliminate the president. dpa
