ANDThe Ukrainian Army made use of the permission received from the United States for the first time and other Western allies to use the weapons sent to it against certain military objectives located within Russia destroying an anti-aircraft system deployed in the Russian Belgorod Oblast with an American-made HIMARS.
“Ukrainian forces hit a Russian S-300/400 air defense battery in Belgorod Oblast, presumably with HIMARS, on June 1 or 2,” he writes in his diary about the conflict. the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) in Washington, which cites geolocated information from open sources to reach this conclusion.
“The S-300/400 was located about 60 kilometers from the current front line in the north of the Kharkiv oblast (Ukrainian and bordering Belgorod) and more than 80 kilometers from the city of Kharkiv, which is within the range of the HIMARS but exceeds that of other multiple launch rocket systems” that Ukraine has, notes the ISW.

“A nice fire. It’s a Russian S-300 (anti-aircraft system). On Russian territory,” he wrote on his Vershchuk Facebook account.
The message was accompanied by a photo of a unit of military equipment burning.
“First days after permission to use Western weapons against enemy territory,” added the vice minister.
In recent weeks, Ukraine received permission from more than a dozen allied countries to hit certain Russian military objectives. located within the Russian Federation with the weapons that they send to kyiv. Until now they were not allowed to use their weapons to attack Russian territory for fear of possible retaliation from Moscow.

The cross-border offensive launched by Russia in the middle of last month against the Kharkov region, where it has managed to open a new front, triggered concern both in kyiv and in Western capitals.
Ukraine then began a campaign to be allowed to attack with the weapons it receives the troop concentrations, missile launchers, artillery systems, aircraft and other military targets that Russia uses to attack Kharkiv from its own territory.

Meanwhile, a total of 20 Ukrainian drones were intercepted in the region on Monday, according to the interim governor of Kursk, Alexei Smirnov.
Smirnov also warned this Tuesday of a bombing threat in the town of Kurchatovwhich houses the Kursk nuclear power plant, a notice that was lifted an hour later.
