One of the teams that will be involved in changes to their line-ups in the 2023 season will be theAlpha Tauri. The team from Faenza, which from next year will no longer be able to count on a historic driver like Pierre Gasly (new Alpine bearer), will replace the Frenchman with Nyck De Vries, author of a surprising debut in Williams at Monza with a finish in the area points. In this way, the Dutchman will pair up with the reconfirmed Yuki Tsunodawho will thus find himself a new teammate after two seasons spent alongside Gasly.
The Japanese, who also made his debut with a convincing 9th place in Bahrain in 2021, then went through a season characterized by accidents and personal mistakes partly due to his temperament, which jeopardized his stay in the team in 2022 However, AlphaTauri has opted for the renewal of trust not only for the last championship, but also for the next one. In anticipation of 2023, Tsunoda cannot be considered satisfied with the results achieved in the just filed World Cup, but has nevertheless put into practice some improvements, recognized by the Japanese himself.
In this regard, in an interview for the official Formula 1 website, Tsunoda wanted to openly thank his now former teammate, considered ‘responsible’ for his progress: “A big thank you to Pierre, without whom I couldn’t have made that much progress in the past two years – declared the Japanese – I learned a lot from him and it was a pleasure to work together, I will miss him. I managed to improve in the race and I’m also quite satisfied with my fitness this year. Obviously there is still a lot to do, especially in terms of consistency. There are no limits to fitness, so I will keep working to come back even stronger.”
