Former US President Donald Trump was interrogated for several hours on Monday, October 18, in a lawsuit in which six Mexicans accused the politician’s security of attacking them at Trump Tower in New York in 2015. This was reported by the TV channel CNBC…
According to the plaintiffs’ attorney, videotapes of Trump’s sworn testimony could be presented as evidence if the lawsuit goes to court.
Later that day, Trump said in a statement that he viewed the testimony as an opportunity to express his point of view.
The former American leader was interrogated at the Trump Tower on Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue, at the site of the alleged attack. The taking of evidence was ordered by a judge in the Bronx Supreme Court.
The lawsuit was filed by six men of Mexican descent. In 2015, during the politician’s first presidential campaign, they protested outside the Trump building in Ku Klux Klan suits against the Republican’s statements about Hispanics. The applicants allege that the guards left the building and pushed them, according to one of them, the then head of Trump’s security service, Keith Schiller, punched him on the head with a fist, who, in turn, according to the TV channel, said that he wanted to clear the sidewalk, and the blow inflicted when he was grabbed from behind.
Trump was not present at the scene of the clash, but, according to the plaintiffs, his rhetoric during the election campaign created the impression that the guards could use force against the protesters.
Earlier, on October 18, as reported by Reuters, Trump sued a House commission investigating the circumstances of the storming of the Capitol.
On January 6, Trump supporters after the rally broke into the congress building, where the approval of the results of the presidential elections held in November was to take place. The meeting was disrupted. Five people were killed in the riots, including a policeman.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation has opened more than 160 criminal cases. The punishment for some charges in connection with the storming of the Capitol may be imprisonment up to 20 years.
