The Integrated Transport Center in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, affiliated with the Department of Municipalities and Transport, announced the start-up of a new public bus transport service that provides space inside the bus that allows cyclists to transport their bikes with them on buses, with the aim of promoting a culture of sustainable transport using their own means of transportation through the public bus transport network. And completing the last mile of the journey to their destination to and from the main city centers and attractions and entertainment on a path that suits the needs of residents and visitors and connects Al Reem Island and Al Hudayriat Island. The Integrated Transport Center seeks to support and expand joint efforts to make physical activity and sustainable mobility a part of the daily routine to improve the quality of life and community service and happiness in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. A service line that connects to the entertainment, tourism and sports destination “Al Hudayriat Island” and supports the transportation of bicycles. It should be noted that the racks were designed and manufactured with features that ensure safety for passengers and bikes alike. They are characterized by a supportive design that ensures the stability of bicycles safely and easily without being an obstacle to the internal movement of passengers. The design also takes into account the service of the people of determination, as well as the availability of slides that facilitate entry and exit Users to and from the bus.
The new service contributes to promoting the use of sustainable transportation in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, supports first and last mile trips, and helps support the economic model of cities by facilitating movement from home to work or sports and entertainment destinations for all members of society.
In the first phase, 6 buses will be operated on the new route, which passes a number of locations in Abu Dhabi city, starting from Al Reem Island, passing through the most important Abu Dhabi landmarks, such as: the main bus station, Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, Zayed Educational Complex, Marsana Beach, Bab Al Nujoom Camp, 321 Sports, and service is marked with a bicycle flag with the service number.
Service No. 73 operates in both directions from 06:00 in the morning until 12:00 midnight throughout the week, with an estimated frequency of 30 minutes at peak times, and 60 minutes outside.
