Three US soldiers injured in shelling of two US bases in Syria
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that during the rocket attacks on two bases – Green Village and Conoco – in northeast Syria, three US soldiers were injured, reports RIA News.
“We are closely monitoring the situation. We have a range of tools at our disposal to contain threats throughout the region. We have full confidence in our ability to protect our forces and coalition partners from such attacks,” said General Michael Kurilla, head of CENTCOM.
According to the command, “Iran-backed militants” were involved in at least one of these attacks. It is noted that they were eliminated by return fire from American soldiers, who used military helicopters for this.
Earlier, David Ignatius, a columnist for the American newspaper The Washington Post, said that Western states should beware of the emerging alliance between Russia and Iran. He pointed to Western claims that the Russian army had begun using Iranian-made unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in a special operation in Ukraine.
