the man who ADcolumnist Angela de Jong threatened with death (‘Sit a few more times at Boulevard and you end up just like Peter R. between six planks’ ) gets one month of probation. The Rotterdam District Court has decided that. In October, the same Erik van Z. was already convicted of threatening D66 faction leader Sigrid Kaag and minister Hugo de Jonge.
For threatening Kaag and De Jonge, Van Z. was given another five months in prison, two of which were conditional. He has already completed it.
The fact that it now remains at one month’s conditional prison is because this case should have been added to Kaag’s. The public prosecutor in Rotterdam demanded two more months in prison, one of which was conditional, but the judge left it conditional at that one month because Van Z. has already served and the sentence must now mainly have a preventive effect. In all, he now has three months of probation as a ‘big stick’ that he does not make the mistake again.
through the dust
Erik van Z. was sentenced on October 12 to five months in prison, of which two months were suspended because he had made death threats via Facebook towards Kaag and the then Minister of Health Hugo de Jonge.
Van Z. crawled through the dust during the lawsuit. He expressed regret, saying it happened on a whim and he didn’t realize the impact it would have at all. Kaag was then present at the trial to exercise her right to speak as a victim. She explained in detail the impact a death threat written ‘on a whim’ can have.
In the same period, he also threatened Angela de Jong with death, because she is also in favor of the corona measures. Van Z. initially denied that threat, but the evidence on his laptop and telephone pointed to him as the perpetrator. Erik van Z. was not present at the trial this time. Van Z. lived in Spain and probably went that way again after his prison sentence.
