The energy crisis has affected a large number of families who have been forced to find solutions to be able to pay their bills at the end of the month. For this reason, the central government has approved several measures that can help the citizens most affected by the rise in the price of energy. Among the measures adopted, the expansion of social bonds (electricity and thermal) stands out, as well as the inclusion of new beneficiaries in the category of vulnerable consumers. Low-income pensioners (retirees and people with permanent disability) are in this category.
Many citizens are unaware of this type of aid or bonus. Some do not know how they can access these bonuses or what bureaucratic procedures they have to carry out. There is an aid called Bono Social Térmico, it is an aid program to compensate the thermal expenses caused to the most vulnerable consumers by the use of heating and hot water or cooking, as explained on the official website.
How to access the Thermal Social Bonus
To benefit from the Thermal Social Bonus, you must only be a beneficiary of the Electric Social Bonus as of December 31 of the previous year. Households that have submitted their application for the Electricity Social Bonus as of December 31st can also access this aid, as long as it is granted. As Selectra explains on its website, people who are beneficiaries of the Thermal Social Bonus will not have to request it, the regional administration will be in charge of notifying families at the beginning of the year.
The Thermal Social Bonus is charged the first quarter of each year. It is a single annual payment, transferred to the account number in which the electricity bill is domiciled. People who do not have their electricity bill domiciled must send their regional administration the account number to which the aid will be transferred. The administration sends the beneficiaries a notice with the different ways to do so.
The Thermal Social Bonus is direct help to pay for heating and hot water that ranges from 35 to 373 euros and can be automatically accessed by those who already receive the Electric Social Bonus. According to the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, the aid per beneficiary that will be paid in a single annual payment, in their checking account, in which the electricity bill is domiciled, and its amount depends on the degree of vulnerability and the climatic zone in which your habitual residence is located. There are 6 different zones: alpha, A, B, C, D and E, with the first being the lowest.
In the case of a severely vulnerable consumer or at risk of social exclusion, the aid is increased by 60% with respect to what corresponds to them due to their climatic zone.
