The Civil Guard dismantled an organization dedicated to the cultivation and trafficking of drugs and seized 120 kilos of marijuana that were being transported from a property located in Puerto de Mazarrón. In the operation, called ‘Aguamarina’, two of the members of the criminal group were arrested and a third person is being investigated, all of them as alleged perpetrators of the crimes of cultivation, production and trafficking of drugs and fraud of electricity. as reported by Benemérita sources in a statement.
The actions began in August, when the Civil Guard received an email in which an individual reported the possible existence of a significant marijuana crop in a property located in an urbanization in the town of Puerto de Mazarrón. The statement, formulated through the ‘citizen collaboration’ section of the Benemérita website, was transferred to investigative units in Murcia.

Thanks to this information, which identified the place that could house the hidden greenhouse, the Civil Guard found out that, although the supposed plantation was perfectly camouflaged, the high electrical consumption in the area revealed the existence of some type of machinery used to promote the internal growth of plants.
In this way, the Benemérita established a series of operational devices that culminated recently, when the agents intercepted a van loaded with 338 marijuana plants in a state of flowering on the outskirts of the property under investigation, at which time its two occupants They were arrested.
In view of the discovery of these 120 kilos of marijuana, the Civil Guard requested a court order to enter and search the property, which has allowed the location, in a storage room, of more than 360 flower pots, air conditioning units, air filters. ozone and other tools intended for the indoor cultivation of plants. ‘Operation Aquamarina’ culminated in the arrest of two people and the investigation of a third, all of them as alleged perpetrators of the crimes of drug cultivation, manufacturing and trafficking and electricity fraud. Those arrested – aged 46, 43 and 31 and of Spanish and Senegalese nationality -, the marijuana plants and the seized effects, as well as the proceedings carried out, have been placed at the disposal of the Investigative Court number 1 of Totana.
