Totana Civil Protection volunteers captured this Wednesday a huge snake of the species known as ‘staircase’, named for its staggered appearance, almost two meters long.
The reptile was found in a parking area located next to the volunteers’ offices, on Santa Eulalia Avenue, next to the orchard area of this town.
José María Sánchez, coordinator of the body, already a veteran in the trade of removing reptiles, captured the large specimen to later release it in a place in Sierra Espuña.
The ‘ladder’ snake is a species with a robust and relatively short body, reaching an average length of 157 cm. It is not a dangerous snake, since its bite is not poisonous and it does not usually attack humans.
