“We also see that the timetable is getting shorter and shorter,” Nusseibeh said, during a virtual session of the Atlantic Council.
She explained that the issue is related to “global security and women’s rights”, justifying this by saying that “climate change is leading to more natural disasters with negative human consequences – with women particularly affected.”
“This economic, security and gender approach to climate is really one of the pillars of our foreign policy,” she added.
And she continued: “You will hear us talk a lot about this as we join the United Nations Security Council on the first of next January.”
A few months ago, the UAE submitted a request to host the Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention on Climate Change “COP 28” in 2023.
This year’s COP26 climate conference is scheduled to start on Sunday In Glasgow, chaired by the United Kingdom.
