Domestic tourists began to massively abandon the booked tours for the November holidays for one reason – new antiquarian measures are being introduced in the regions of Russia. Writes about it Interfax with reference to the statement of the press secretary of the Russian Union of Travel Industry (PCT) Irina Tyurina.
“The reaction of the tourist industry to the introduction of restrictions in the regions due to the increase in the number of cases of coronavirus is confusion: companies do not yet understand what to expect and how to proceed,” she said.
Tyurina added that in some regions, which introduced the requirement to have QR codes for visiting public places, the situation is “especially unpleasant.” “According to one of the travel companies, almost all clients ask to cancel the already made reservations, a large number of school groups are canceled,” the press secretary clarified.
At the same time, she noted that in a number of regions, such as Tatarstan and Bashkortostan, despite the imposed restrictive measures, there was no mass cancellation of tours. “True, as tour operators say, little time has passed, for the reaction of tourists it takes at least a week,” the specialist concluded.
Earlier in October, it became known that Russians massively wanted to stay at home for the November holidays – every fourth respondent (26 percent) plans to spend days off watching TV series or reading books. About 23 percent of respondents said they would not celebrate the holidays at all and would continue to work all four days. At the same time, 19 percent of domestic tourists want to travel around the country.
