An adviser to the Ukrainian Interior Minister Vadim Denisenko said that the Russian forces will try to seize the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, during the next few days, after they have gathered a sufficient number near the capital.
Denisenko added that Russia is trying to destroy all airports throughout Ukraine, to make it physically unable to protect its skies from Russian warplanes.
The Ukrainian General Staff said in a statement that the Russian army had begun to gather its forces to storm Kyiv.
For its part, the Ukrainian forces reinforced their defenses around the capital, Kyiv, and dug trenches in several areas around the city, and closed a number of roads leading to the center of the capital.
The Ukrainian army also coordinated with civil defense units to protect civilians, while Russian forces bombed areas around Kiev and attacked towns and villages adjacent to the Ukrainian capital.
A US official said Russia has fired more than 600 missiles since the start of its offensive on Ukraine.
The US official added that the Russian forces trying to advance in Kyiv, Kharkiv and Chernihiv were met with strong resistance.
The US official confirmed that Russia had deployed in Ukraine ninety-five percent of its forces that it had mobilized on the border before the start of the fighting.
The source also stressed that Washington does not see that Russia is planning an imminent amphibious attack on or near the city of Odessa.
