In the statement that confirmed his death, the municipality of San Pedro, his hometown in the province of Buenos Aires, highlighted “his enormous career in the media”.
Mascetti worked together with his wife, Mónica Cahen D’Anvers, in ‘Mónica presente’ (1977-1980) and shared the hosting of the news program ‘Telenoche’ (1991-2004). They married in 2003 after 25 years of relationship.

The award-winning journalist covered relevant events such as the tragedy of the Andes (Chile, 1972), the return of former Argentine president Juan Perón (Argentina, 1972-1973)the fall of the dictator Anastasio Somoza (Nicaragua, 1979), the death of Franco (Spain, 1979-1980) and interviewed figures such as the musician George Harrison, writer Jorge Luis Borges, and Chilean President Salvador Allende.
Born on December 9, 1941, he worked at the San Pedro newspaper El Independiente, founded by his grandfather in 1892. In 1965 he joined the Clarín newspaper and in 1968 La Razón. In 1971 he entered Channel 13, from where ‘Telenoche’ is still broadcast.
Participated in programs ‘The themes of the day’ (1973-1976), ‘From 7 to 8’ (1981-1984), ‘The Candidate’ (1985, 1987 and 1989), ‘The mirror’ (1984-1986) and ‘Breakfast’ ( 1987-1989), among others. In 2004 he began working with his wife on Radio Del Plata in a program called ‘Mónica y César’, which lasted until 2015.
