Neowin: Windows 11 has a new pre-installed PC Manager application
Microsoft has begun shipping Windows 11 in China with a new pre-installed app. On this noticed Neowin edition.
Media authors noticed that Chinese users of the operating system have a new PC Manager application. It has mandatory status when installing or updating the OS, like the Edge browser, Paint editor and other programs.
The material says that an application called Microsoft PC Manager recently appeared in the Microsoft Store. Its description says that the utility will “quietly and reliably protect your computer” as it removes junk files and optimizes the system.
Experts have noticed that PC Manager, among other things, distributes Microsoft advertising and gives “dubious advice.” Thus, the utility “shamelessly claims” that the browser on a PC can work faster if you set Microsoft Bing as the default search engine. It is currently unknown in which regions, other than China, Microsoft has begun distributing PC Manager as a pre-installed application.
At the end of May, Microsoft released a preview version of the major Windows 11 24H2 update. Thus, users registered in the Windows Insider program have the opportunity to download the update in advance.
