Egypt revealed the fact that the number of ships passing through the Suez Canal decreased due to international political events and the Russian war on Ukraine.
The Media Center of the Council of Ministers denied circulating news about the decline in the number of ships passing through the Suez Canal, stressing the regularity of ships and containers crossing the shipping lane of the Suez Canal according to the normal rates.
According to the Suez Canal Authority, the navigation movement in the Suez Canal during February 2022 recorded new records in terms of vessel transit rates and net tonnage, after 1713 vessels crossed from both directions, with a total net tonnage of 100.1 million tons, and this figure is the highest during the month of February through Successive years throughout the history of the channel.
Authority figures showed that the Suez Canal achieved record profits during 2021, as the annual revenues of the channel amounted to 6.3 billion dollars.
The authority attributed the achievement of the new numbers to the flexible marketing and pricing policies that it had recently adopted, as it was able to attract new shipping lines that did not cross the canal.
And news had spread on social media that the number of ships in the Suez Canal had decreased, as a result of the repercussions of the Russian war on Ukraine, and the resulting turmoil in international politics, before the Suez Canal Authority denied it.
