The President of the Republic President Niinistö’s visit to Lithuania is canceled due to the flu

President Sauli Niinistö the working visit to Lithuania scheduled for Tuesday will be canceled, the president’s office says. The reason for canceling the trip is Niinistö’s flu.

According to the President’s Office, Niinistö has undergone a coronavirus test. The test result was negative.

Niinistö was to meet with the president during his visit to Lithuania Gitanas Nauseda. The presidents were to discuss, among other things, the countries’ bilateral relations, European security and climate change.

Niinistö was also scheduled to meet with the Speaker of the Lithuanian Parliament Victoria Cmilyte-Nielsen and to lay a wreath at the monument to those who died in the Lithuanian independence struggle.

Niinistö’s visit to Lithuania will be arranged at a later date. This year marks the centenary of diplomatic relations between Finland and Lithuania.
