The polar bear, rescued in the village of Dikson in the north of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, was taken to its natural habitat with a stock of fish. This was reported on Friday, July 22, by Norilsk Nickel.
“The young bear, named Monetochka, was transported 60-100 km from Dixon to the natural environment, after leaving a stock of fish for the first time, since the animal will not be able to hunt on its own yet,” the company said in a Telegram message.
The day before, rescuers led by the chief veterinarian of the Moscow Zoo Dmitry Egorov arrived from Norilsk to Dixon by helicopter, which was specially designed to save the bear. Due to bad weather, the flight to the village was delayed for several hours.
According to the head of Rosprirodnadzor Svetlana Radionova, a special cage was made at the mechanical plant to transport the animal. Three bags of fish were also collected for the predator.
The appearance of a bear in Dikson was reported this Wednesday, July 20. Local residents said that a polar bear came to the village with a can of condensed milk stuck in its mouth. The moment was captured on video: one of the men called the wild beast and tried to help him, but he failed to get the tin.
The head of the settlement, Nikolai Burak, told Izvestia that the bear walked around the entire village in search of help. After attempts to pull the jar out of the predator’s mouth were unsuccessful, the village authorities turned to animal rights activists.
