The only communication road in the district, which is increasingly busy, has potholes and sinkholes
The Plenary Session of the City Council of Mula has approved, unanimously by all its members, a motion in which the Governing Council of the Autonomous Community is urged to undertake the repair and comprehensive adaptation of the RM-C5, prioritizing especially the section that It runs between the district of Casas Nuevas and the intersection with the MU-503 in the municipality of Lorca.
This route begins in the town of Pliego and ends in Ciudad del Sol. It is 22.7 kilometers long and constitutes the only communication route in the Muleña district of Casas Nuevas. It is a communication artery that, every time, supports a greater amount of traffic due to the increase in the area of second homes and rural accommodation. In the same way, it serves a large number of agricultural and livestock farms, so it is common for it to be used by heavy agricultural machinery and cattle trucks, a sector that is experiencing strong growth in the entire area.
In addition, the RM-C5 communicates with several of the entrances to the north face of the Sierra Espuña Regional Park, la Umbría, and with the Sierra de Pedro Ponce and el Cambrón, so it is heavily traveled by cyclists.
The road, especially in a stretch of 11 kilometers, has numerous potholes and sinkholes, lacks shoulders and drainage ditches and is too narrow.
