The Pharaon RB1 robot, designed to be used in hospitals during the confinement due to the coronavirus, will begin to be used in the multipurpose gerontological center of the Poncemar Foundation on the Lorca university campus in projects to promote active aging through the integration of digital solutions .
It will remain for six months at the Poncemar Foundation center, which thus joins this initiative to test new technologies in real environments to improve the quality of life, independence and general health of the elderly.
The robot is part of the European Pharaon project, made up of 41 partners from 14 different countries, which aims to support the aging European population by integrating digital tools, devices and services on open platforms that can be easily deployed while maintains the dignity of older adults and enhances their independence, security, and capacity.
In Lorca, it will serve to explore new uses of this robotic technology in the geriatric training, research and assistance center and will be used in issues such as monitoring intervention processes with the elderly or facilitating communication between users and family members.
