It could affect more than 30,000 models of this car in Spain, manufactured between March 19, 2020 and October 24, 2022.
The Organization of Consumers and Users (
OCU) has just alerted about a possible
steering system failure of one of the best-selling cars in our country and throughout Europe. This has been transferred from France by the rapid alert system of dangerous non-food products of the European Union (
RAPEX), which warned that this manufacturing error could cause serious accidents.
According to the agency, this failure could affect more than 30,000 models of the
peugeot 208 in Spain, manufactured between
March 19, 2020 and October 24, 2022.
This is a localized error in the
lock nuts of the steering tie rods, which are not adjusted correctly, which could cause the
loss of vehicle control while driving.
Peugeot will contact the owners
The OCU has transferred that the Peugeot company will be contacting the owners to solve the problem, something that will foreseeably be done for free and as soon as possible.
However, the organization also recommends that those affected contact
contact customer service of the brand to find out “if your vehicle is among those affected, especially if it was purchased second-hand”, since the owner may not be found in the brand’s database.
The agency has also recalled that, taking into account the high cost of a car, “brand quality controls should be strengthened before putting a vehicle up for sale”
