His song ‘Raffaella’, a tribute to the Italian presenter and actress Raffaella Carrà, is one of the fourteen preselected by RTVE for the Benidorm Fest, from which the chosen theme will come out
Varry Brava, the band created in Murcia by Óscar Ferrer (vocalist), Aarön Sáez (keyboards) and Vicente Illescas (guitar), is one of the fourteen preselected proposals for the Benidorm Fest festival, from which the song that will represent Spain at the Eurovision Song Contest, to be held in Turin (Italy) in May. The Varry Brava, based in the Region of Murcia, will defend the song ‘Raffaella’, a tribute to the Italian artist Raffaella Carrà, who died in 2021. RTVE received 886 proposals and finally decided to select fourteen.
“Raffaella appeared to us,” the Varry Brava commented to Televisión Española, according to the RTVE website. «We wanted to make a Eurovision song, powerful, full of energy and emotion. We began the composition by paying tribute to our favorite authors and interpreters, Manuel Alejandro, Julio Iglesias, Raphael, and as the story and the song progressed, the spirit of Raffaella crossed like a shooting star on the road, illuminated the melodies, the words, and we simply let ourselves be carried away by his drive and influence.
In love with Barry White
‘Rafaella’ condenses “all the essence” of the Murcian group. «When we put together the band we wanted the melodies that we fell in love with from the late 70s and 80s, Barry White, Spanish pop and Italo-disco to float in our music, but that they had a modern sound and that people could enjoy it as own ”, indicates the band, highly sought after at festivals throughout Spain. “We feel that in this song everything that we are and what we wanted to be is gathered and enhanced, it has been magical how everything has come together in this song.”
The band, which emerged in 2009, according to the public channel, is characterized by being “fun, without prejudice, shameless and hedonistic.” They have published ‘Demasié’ (2012), ‘Arriva: 16 hours of play and 4 liters of energy drink’ (2014), ‘Emotional Safari’ (2016) and ‘Furor’ (2018). This Saturday Varry Brava uploaded to his social networks a photograph of Raffaella Carrá and a message: «Let’s go up with that Saturday !!! #Raffaella ».
