The situation caused by the sixth wave has forced this agreement to be extended until February 28
The College of Pharmacists of the Region of Murcia (Cofrm) and the Ministry of Health agreed to extend the health program for carrying out self-diagnostic antigen tests for Covid-19 in pharmacies, which ends this Friday. The health situation caused by the sixth wave has led to the extension, until February 28, of this agreement that enables pharmacies to notify the Murcian Health Service of the result of positive tests, in such a way that a blood test is not necessary. confirmation.
In this way, citizens will be able to continue going to pharmacies to take the self-diagnosis test under the supervision of the pharmacist, have a report with the result and if it is positive, the Murcian Health Service is informed.
The entire process of carrying out the test entails a personal and professional responsibility of the pharmacist who provides the protection material, manages the corresponding procedures to notify Health, uploads the result to the technological platform of the College of Pharmacists and must maintain sanitized area where the tests are carried out, so that the entire process is carried out with the maximum sanitary guarantees.
In this sense, the pharmacists participating in the program will be able to pass on the professional fees that mitigate the expense of the resources used and cover the responsibility assumed, with the premise that we are dealing with a health action that must be easily accessible to the population, given that the authorized extension lacks funding. Alternatively, the Ministry of Health has enabled a tab on the ‘Murciasalud’ website that allows citizens to notify the positive result of the self-diagnosis test carried out at home.
The president of the Cofrm, Paula Payá, highlighted the pharmacy “as the retaining wall of the sixth wave.” “As a health establishment that is closer and more accessible to citizens, the community pharmacy has contributed to reducing the pressure on Primary Care,” said Payá. “The pharmacist’s professional advice has helped citizens to do self-diagnosis tests for Covid-19 correctly and with guarantees,” the president stressed.
“The pharmacists of the Region of Murcia are going to continue contributing our training, knowledge and experience for the benefit of the population’s health” affirmed the president of the Cofrm who reaffirmed “the social and welfare commitment of the community pharmacy with society to overcome the health crisis”. More than 200 pharmacies spread throughout the Region are adhered to the initiative. And to date, 47,775 tests have been carried out with the notification of more than 8,415 positives.
