Tomorrow, Tuesday, our national handball team will launch its campaign in the 20th Asian Championship for Teams, which qualifies for the 2023 World Championship “Poland – Sweden”, which will continue until January 31, and the first confrontation will be against Iraq in the third round of the tournament.
The tournament will witness on the first day 8 matches in the first round, where the confrontations begin with Singapore and South Korea in the first group, and Kuwait with Jordan in the same group, with the last match on the first day between Saudi Arabia and India in the second group, and in the fourth group Uzbekistan with Hong Kong, Bahrain with Vietnam, Qatar and Oman in Group C, and the last match in Group B is Australia with Iran.
Our team will meet Oman in the second round tomorrow, Wednesday, and meet Qatar on Thursday. The organizing committee of the tournament had pressed the matches after Japan withdrew from the tournament.
Abdullah Al-Kaabi, Head of the National Teams Committee and Director of the Mission, confirmed that things are going in the right direction, and upon the arrival of the mission yesterday, the team trained in Al-Qadisiyah Hall, then trained in the Gymnasium, and that the basic training before the match would be in the championship hall.
He added that the morale is high and the team is not facing any problems and there are appreciated efforts from the organizing committee and the team that works with us day and night, and we hope that our start in the tournament will be promising because the first match is the key to qualifying for the main round.
On the other hand, the Hand Federation nominated the two continental referees, Ali Jaafar and Ismail Salem, to manage the matches of the 38th Gulf Cup for Clubs Cup Winners’ Cup, which will be held in Kuwait from February 12 to 23.
