Al Wasl reached the League Cup quarter-finals, after beating Baniyas 2-0, in the match that was held at Zabeel Stadium in the second leg of the first round, to confirm its supremacy after winning the first leg with a score of 2-1, and qualified by the aggregate score of 4-1.
Al-Wasl is waiting in the quarter-finals for the rising team from the Emirates and Al-Ain match, which will be held today, after the “leader” outperformed in the first leg with two goals without a response.
The start of the match came cautiously from the two teams, and they waited until before the end of the half to visit the net, after a start from full-back Abdullah Khamis, who passed a cross into the penalty area, followed by Michel Araujo successfully into the net in the 42nd minute.
Baniyas made several substitutions in the second half in an attempt to compensate, and Mohammed Al Hammadi missed the opportunity to equalize after receiving a cross ball inside the penalty area, but he shot it strangely outside the goal frame in the 71st minute.
Araujo settled matters with the second goal after following a ball inside the penalty area in the 77th minute.
Al-Wasl’s goal post prevented Gaston Suarez’s shot from Bani Yas in added time.
