When we talk about rally cars from the past, we almost always end up with Group B cars like the Audi Quattro and Lancia Delta S4. After this racing class was closed, a new class was created. Creative as they are at the FIA they called this class Group A. For this class Lancia converted the sensible production Delta into a bona fide rally monster.
The Lancia Delta HF Integrale seemed virtually unbeatable during its competitive stint. He won no fewer than four drivers’ championships and six constructors’ championships. The Dutch company Maturo Competition Cars seizes its opportunity to honor this icon. They make the old street versions of the Delta look like new again – and maybe even slightly better.
The revised Lancia Delta Integrale comes in three versions: Classic, Rally and Stradale. The Classic is the slip-on and you can see it in the photos. This is more or less the Delta you know, but made as new and slightly modernized. Maturo inspects and strengthens the body and gives the engine a healthy 275 hp.
The Rally is exactly what you expect: a fully overhauled rally monster with a roll cage and a Group A spec engine. Maturo even claims that this Rally is better and more competitive than the original Delta from Group A. Brave claims. In the pictures this is the Delta in Martini gear.
Adjustments to the Lancia Delta Integrale
The Stradale is arguably the coolest version. There are only renderings of these. He walks the middle ground between the Classic and the Rally. In addition to a full roll cage, this version gets a carbon fiber body, new brakes and a completely revised powertrain. It has to be, because the power of the four-cylinder Stradale is 380 hp and the torque is no less than 500 Nm.
You can do the switching yourself. Hereby it is possible to dog box transmission with spur gears. “It’s not for the faint of heart, though,” Maturo says. Rally hero Juha Kankkunen says of the car: “With Maturo’s Stradale specification you get a Group A rally car disguised as a very handsome and exquisitely crafted Delta for the road.”
