The Basmanny Court of Moscow arrested the vice-governor of the Leningrad region Kharlashkin until October 15
The Basmanny District Court of Moscow sent Sergey Kharlashkin, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Leningrad Region for Transport and Fuel and Energy Complex, under arrest until October 15. This is reported RBC.
Kharlashkin was detained on Wednesday, August 17. He is suspected of exceeding official powers with causing grave consequences (paragraph “c” of Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Russia). The lieutenant governor faces three to ten years in prison. The meeting was held behind closed doors, this was requested by the defense of the accused.
The press service of the Investigative Committee told the publication that the criminal case was connected with the work of Kharlashkin at OAO Metrostroy. He served as the CEO of this company from December 2019 to August 2020.
The apartment of the vice-governor, as well as the offices and homes of employees of organizations related to the case, were searched. The police took Kharlashkin to Moscow for further investigation. The official became a defendant in the case of a bribe during road construction.
