The students of Elías Ahuja in Madrid will have to take an equality course after humiliating chants to their neighbors at Santa Mónica: “Bitches, you are nymphomaniac whores”
Whores, come out of your burrows, you are all nymphomaniacs. I promise you will fuck all of them.” This chauvinist, humiliating and shameful chant uttered in unison by students from the Colegio Mayor Elías Ahuja in Madrid has not only shaken social networks, but has also unleashed a torrent of social and political reactions, including that of the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, who has described the video as “painful” because the protagonists are young people or the Minister of the Presidency Félix Bolaños, who calls the images of the video “terrible”, which can be seen on the internet.
This is the cry that comes from this center managed by the Augustinians but dependent on the Complutense University of Madrid, directed towards its neighbors, the girls from the Colegio Mayor Santa Mónica. In the video, which has gone viral in recent hours, the howls of all the schoolboys can be heard to the beat, and how the lights in the rooms of the young people turn on and off to attract the attention of their neighbors.
We cannot tolerate these behaviors that generate hatred and attack women. It is especially painful to see that the protagonists are young people.
Not one step back. Equality policies are necessary.
Enough of machismo! https://t.co/XHqHIGlq2A

Some students have been quick to reduce the scandal to a tradition that is repeated every year among the freshmen of this male college, which is home to 175 students between 18 and 22 years old. “It’s a rookie tradition, don’t take it out of context or give it more importance.” But the school management has given it importance in the face of the avalanche of reactions to these misogynistic chants. In fact, the center has condemned the chants, has announced the expulsion of the young man who launches the first cry, will investigate the others who follow him, and has forced the participation of students in courses to raise awareness of gender equality.
The chant of the residents, known as the ‘ahujos’, began by calling their neighbors: «Mónicas whores. Come out of your burrows and abandon them, you are fucking nymphomaniacs. I promise you that you are all going to fuck. Come on Ahuja!” Right after, they open their windows and everyone starts screaming.
After the video was released, the networks have exploded with thousands of Internet users censoring the demeaning and outrageous song of the young people. “How disgusting and how scary,” wrote several users on Twitter, who have demanded forceful measures from the educational institution to reprove these misogynistic behaviors. Others pointed out: «We live on the planet of the apes» or «I don’t know what they study but I don’t want to find them working».
The Colegio Mayor has published a statement that describes the expressions as “unacceptable” and in which it apologizes to those affected by the Colegio Mayor Santa Mónica and stressing “its commitment to education in values promoting equality.” This Thursday its director attended a legion of journalists at the gates of the school and in his statements he insisted on condemning the events that occurred in the center and emphasizing his commitment to education in values promoting equality.
Some Internet users have recalled that among the former students of the Colegio Mayor is the former president of the PP, Pablo Casado.
The Complutense will investigate what happened to apply sanctions
Given the events broadcast in a video in which young people from the Elías Ahuja residence hall in Madrid can be seen yelling at the residents of another school, the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), on which the center depends, has opened an informative file to analyze what happened and purge responsibilities. The Complutense has announced that it will work in coordination with the rest of the universities to apply sanctions to the students involved. “From the UCM we show a total rejection of what happened, we consider that actions like this have no place in any area of society, and even less so, in the university environment,” says the UCM in a statement.
