The Naturalization Statistics published by Uscis includes figures on the application and approval of citizenship, during fiscal year 2022. This exercise highlights that when people submit Form N-400, known as the Application for Naturalization, they must indicate their current address, which is considered their place of residence.
California is the state with the most residents who received naturalization, being indicated as a place of residence in 19.1% of the total applications, that is, 184,700; followed by Texas, at 11.2%, and Florida, at 11%.
This same statistic identifies that Los Angeles was one of the five cities with the most approved applications, welcoming 9,300 people; while the core-based statistical area (CBSA), comprised of Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim, represented 6.3% applications.
Country of origin, age, gender and more information from the 2022 Naturalization Statistics
The information published by Uscis reveals that the main countries of origin of people who naturalized in fiscal year 2022 were: Mexico, India, the Philippines, Cuba and the Dominican Republic. According to statistics, 13.33% of naturalizations were approved for people of Mexican origin.
“More than 40% of citizens naturalized in fiscal year 2022 were between 30 and 44 years of age”, indicates Uscis. The Citizenship and Immigration Service also highlights that 54.3% of naturalizations carried out that year were requested by women. In addition, it points out that citizenship was granted to 20 people over 100 years old.
