Either they create a unified discourse among all their troops or their information reputation may become even more out of control. And several PP mayors of the towns affected by the flood such as Alfafar or Massanassa have openly criticized the Generalitat for the lack of information and the late intervention that could have saved lives. For this reason, the Valencian Government and the PP of the Valencian Community have distributed to all their public officials an argument to counteract the information that the media is disseminating or, directly, to attack the Government. The document called “DANA Arguments” to which elDiario.es has had access and which was distributed on November 6, was created on November 4 by Carlos Mazón’s team in the Presidency of the Generalitat. The communication director of the PP of the Valencian Community, Rocío Fernández Luque, also participated in the preparation of the document, who made the last modification before being sent. It was the party that distributed the document among all its public officials.
The document has 13 pages and is illustrated with links to favorable news, captures and photographs. Among other arguments used to defend the image of President Mazón in this crisis, they highlight the trivialization of the massive SMS message of Tuesday, October 29 at 8:12 p.m., the concealment of certain information that would help to better understand the management or its responsibilities. The document goes so far as to state: “The Government could have perfectly and legally assumed command, decreeing SITUATION 3 (alarm) and it did not do so. So Cecopi acted correctly.” A full-fledged insinuation that the Government should have taken control of the Generalitat, a situation that Mazón himself could have also requested and did not do so.
The document goes point by point trying to explain to his public officials the strong aspects of Mazón’s defense. Even if it is full of inaccuracies, omissions or half-truths, as explained after the document. In the communication war of the 21st century, anything goes.

Fake: The document defends that the request for troops “has been made from the first moment.” In that sense, the document criticizes that the UME was activated at 3:21 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, “despite the fact that the Júcar Hydrographic Confederation had deactivated the hydrological alert that day.” Inaccurate statementas the confederation itself confirmed. Furthermore, the document states that the Minister of Justice, Salomé Pradas, requested the intervention of the UME at 3 p.m. It is completely obvious that the Government delegate, Pilar Bernabé, called the counselor up to four times offering her troops.

“On Monday, October 28, the Generalitat’s alert and warning system already informed local councils and regional agencies.
