Hossam Zaki considered that resolving the crisis from a diplomatic point of view cannot begin with a proposal, but rather it must begin with an exploration of positions, and the willingness of the Lebanese side from a political point of view to take a step to resolve the crisis.
He continued, “Why do we say the Lebanese side? Because the problem started with Lebanon. The problem started with statements, and therefore Lebanon must take its responsibility and take the initiative by showing good intentions, which I listened to, and they are good intentions.”
He said that “he will present the Lebanese positions to the Secretary-General of the Arab League, and we will see in this light how to act in this situation, such as communicating with the Saudi side and other concerned countries (…)”.
He stressed that the Arab League will stop its efforts to heal the rift, unless the parties request that, which has not happened so far.
The statements of the Lebanese Minister of Information, George Kordahi, sparked a crisis with Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries.
