Tennis | Heliövaara and Glasspool bowed in a tough semi-final battle in the French Open

The duo’s doubles contract ended in the French Open.

Finnish player Harri Heliövaara was close to advancing his British couple Lloyd Glasspool with tennis in the French Open doubles semi-finals. In the end, the semi-finals of India Rohan Bopannaa and the Netherlands Matwe Middelkoopia against ended a meager loss of 6–4, 4–6, 6–7 (3–10). The match lasted two hours and four minutes.

According to Heliövaara, there is always something left to play in a tennis match.

“We played a really great match, and were close to winning, and could have always done something different. But on the other hand, when you try your best, you can’t demand more of yourself, ”Heliövaara told STT in the aftermath of the loss.

“Satisfied and proud that such a great match was played, but this time the opponents were better.”

Heliövaara and Glasspool were already 5–3 in the third installment. Glasspool made it 5 – 4 to 4. Bopanna and Middelkoop broke their opponent’s pass and rose to 5-5.

In a situation of 5–5, Heliövaara and Glasspool took the 40–30 lead, but were unable to take the game to their names. In the playoffs, Heliövaara and Glasspool led 3-0, but Bopanna and Middelkoop won ten balls in a row. Bopanna and Middelkoop are ranked 16th in the tournament.

In the semi-finals entry is the best investment in Heliövaara’s career in grand slam tournaments.

The uninvested Heliövaara and Glasspool won three matches in the French Open before losing in the semi-finals. In the opening round, they overthrew the German meritites Kevin Krawietzin and Andreas Miesin. The second round came to victory for Uruguay Ariel Beharista and Ecuador Gonzalo Escobarista. In the third round, Monaco crashed Hugo Nys and Poland Jan Zielinski.

“It was a great tournament, it won’t be taken away from us. But on top of that is such a big annoyance. Tight match, seams were. No tennis player can think of anything but why we couldn’t win today. Opponents played a few really great points at the end. I think we played a very great match considering the circumstances, ”Heliövaara said in a statement from the Tennis Association.

“Our first time at Roland Garros, and we got to the semi-finals right away, is an incredibly great thing,” he stressed separately to STT.

Finn says he has developed terribly with Glasspool as both a doubles and a team. This is evidenced by how well they are able to play on mass fields as well as they have played in the spring and especially last month.

The grass season, which Heliövaara says he is already waiting for, begins on Tuesday.

“There was already quite a lot of expertise in the lawns last year, and of course it’s eagerly awaited,” he says, saying expectations are growing, especially after this spring.

“But still, humbly forward, every match is pretty bad at this level.”

Men in duel only 19 years old Holger Rune advanced to the semi-finals by beating Greece Stefanos Tsitsipasin 7–5, 3–6, 6–3, 6–4. Tsitsipas is fourth on the world list, so the Uninvested Rune took a handsome win.

“I was very nervous and knew I would lose if I broke my tactics,” Danish Rune told AFP.
