Technology companies WSJ: In 2008, Microsoft’s management intervened in Bill Gates’s inappropriate email communications

Gates is said to have sent flirtatious and suggestive messages to a Microsoft employee. A Gates spokesman denies the allegations.

Software company Founder and former board member of Microsoft Bill Gates sent inappropriate emails to a female middle management employee, to which the rest of the company’s management had to react in 2008. The Wall Street Journal (WSJ).

According to the WSJ, in 2007 Gates sent emails to a Microsoft employee that were flirtatious and suggestive in tone, according to the magazine. Gates asked the employee for dating, among other things.

Gates was married at the time Melissa Gates with. They said this year they will divorce after 27 years of marriage.

Communication at the time of Micorsoft’s then General Counsel Brad Smith and HR Director Lisa Brummel told Gates that his behavior was inappropriate, and told the billionaire to stop sending messages. According to the WSJ, Gates did not dispute the exchange of messages, but noted that it was not a good idea at first and promised to stop.

According to WSJ, Smith and Brummel also informed the Microsoft board. However, it did not take further action as the exchange of messages did not progress into a physical relationship.

Microsoft spokesman Frank Shaw’n according to the messaging took place in 2007, just before Gates withdrew from Microsoft the following year. Shaw told the WSJ that the employee who was the subject of the messages never complained about Gates’ approach attempts.

Gates spokesman Bridgitt Arnoldin according to the accusations are unfounded. In a statement to WSJ, Arnold stated that the allegations came from sources with no real knowledge of the matter.

The latest information about Gates’ actions is not the first time news of Microsoft’s other management’s involvement in Gates’s misconduct has been reported.

WSJ said last springthat Gates left Microsoft’s board in 2020 because his old relationship with a company employee was under investigation.

Also The New York Times said last May that Gates has a questionable reputation for sending messages. According to the magazine, Gates, with his clumsy attempts at approaching, caused a lot of uncomfortable situations for Microsoft’s female employees.
