Corte de Contas makes suggestions to improve the privatization of the BR-040 section; the government wants to publish a notice in 15 days
O TCU (Federal Audit Court) found inconsistencies and irregularities in the studies for the privatization of Rota dos Cristais – a section of BR-040 that connects Belo Horizonte (MG) to Cristalina (GO).
In a ruling handed down this Wednesday (April 17, 2024), the Court of Auditors indicated 18 recommendations that the ANTT (National Land Transport Agency) and the Ministry of Transport must adapt before publishing the concession notice.
Despite the adjustment recommendations, the government is confident that the notice will be published within the next 15 days. TCU's observations are seen as “small adjustments” by the Ministry of Transport.
Among the adjustments suggested by the Court of Auditors is the review of expropriation costs necessary to carry out the concession's mandatory works. Read the complete of the ruling (PDF – 22 MB).
According to ANTT, the concession notice was expected to be published in the 1st quarter of this year, which did not happen. The auction should be held in the 2nd quarter and the contract signing is scheduled for the 3rd.
Rota dos Cristais will be the 2nd section of BR-040 to be privatized this year. The 1st slice of highway to go up for auction was from Belo Horizonte to Juiz de Fora (MG). The competition was won by IS FOR and the number of competitors pleased the government.
The TCU also approved the concession plan for another highway in Minas Gerais. This is the stretch of BR-381, which connects the capital of Minas Gerais to Governador Valadares (MG). Read the complete of the ruling (PDF – 3 MB).
The government's expectation is that the notice will also be published in the next two weeks.
