Tangentopoli, the pebble that caused a political rift. Italy between investigations and corruption
We never got out of the poisoned climate of tangentopoli. Italy is still on that February 17, 1992 when it gives a banal one corruption investigationthe tsunami began and swept away a whole political system destroying, with a widespread malfeasance but made current and consolidated system (as -in Parliament– one of the most lucid leaders that Italian history can include: Bettino Craxi), the very good that the much reviled first republic it had produced for the seventh – now fifth – world economic power.
Like any avalanche, the incipit is a coincidence; an oversight, a pebble that overwhelms everything and everyone. A destruction of credibility and trust from which Italy is unable to come out. The culture of tangentopoli: that of “everything is corrupt” and, on the other hand, that of the coronation (especially in the media) of the “good ones” has produced, beyond political rifta moral fracture that has generated and continues to produce mistrust.
From tangentopoli we come to the so-called “clockwork justice”, to judicial aggression And judicial / media up to a widespread and unnatural excessive power of the fourth national power which, like a wave of return, is also submerging the judiciary whose popularity is inexorably dropping to very low levels similar to those of politics (pre and post tangentopoli).
There’s more. Tangentopoli it has “drugged” politics. The girotondi, the “vaffa D”, la scrapping and, in 2018, the electoral affirmation of the “party of the anti-system“. But that’s not enough.
The culture of tangentopoli has “blocked” the whole administrative / economic system with an excessive bureaucratization of all the procedures and the need to recruit graduates of the police And magistrates in functions of control and direct administration of public affairs.
This is, today, the Italy of tangentopoli: a pile of rubble under which everyone has ended up and under which – it is easy to predict – the PNRR. A new Marshall plan, as has often been defined, that we are forced to have a “technician” direct – to try not to make it fail. C’est tout dire!
