Suspected criminal offenses “It felt like my own child was in danger” – Kulosaari’s suspected hostage crime arouses disbelief among the residents of the area

“Very curious thing. And extremely unlikely, ”describes Kulosaari Zach Darroch news of a suspected kidnapping and robbery of a 9-year-old boy.

A child of primary school age disappeared in Kulosaari last Friday during his school trip. The boy’s parents received a blackmail message the same day stating that their child had been abducted.

Darroch had first heard of the child’s disappearance from his spouse. At that point, it never occurred to him that it could be a kidnapping.

“The spouse had read about it on Kulosaari’s Facebook group while the boy was still being sought. The group is very active, which is good, ”Darroch says.

A publication to the group asked for observations of the missing boy. The post has since been deleted.

“This is a peaceful area for well-off people. Did he think [tekijä] then that way can be tightened. Of course, that sticks to that, ”Darroch ponders.

Son was found later that afternoon in good physical condition. Some of his property had been taken away. Police said today that it suspects the abduction and that the abductor intended to demand a ransom from the child.

“Exceptional, but no bigger worries. I trust Finnish society. This is a very rare phenomenon. Elsewhere, these happen a lot more, ”says Joni.

To the extent of this, however, the father of two children has wondered if some sort of guidance for troublesome situations is in place for him.

“We have to equip our own children with the means to act in threatening situations,” Joni says.

“If once this person [kaappaaja] has contacted the child’s parents, so he has had some knowledge of who has been abducted. He must have wanted some kind of benefit for himself, ”Joni ponders.

“This was a really big shock and surprise. First came the feeling of whether one’s own child was in danger. My child said he knows the kidnapped boy, ”says Riikka.

After hearing the news, Riikka first thought that the boy had just left his own way for a while – as those of that age might leave now.

“But that he was really kidnapped,” Riikka wonders.

According to Riga, the issue has been discussed with students at Kulosaari Primary School. Her own child, at least for now, hasn’t been scared about it.

“He and his friends have been terribly relaxed. Maybe this scares parents more. Or the children do not yet fully understand the situation. ”

Anonymously a permanent woman who has lived in Kulosaari for 27 years, on the other hand, is worried about how the abducted 9-year-old boy will cope with his experience.

“Terrible trauma is sure to stay. I don’t know the child and I don’t know how the abduction took place, but especially if he was forcibly arrested, ”the woman ponders.

She herself already has adult children, but there are also small schoolchildren living in the yard.

“In the same crab. I was the first to wonder if it was a neighbor’s boy. ”
