The closed beta of Street Fighter 6 is showing all the potential of the new chapter of the famous Capcom saga and some new features, among which the combat system called Moderno stands out.
Modern is actually a real makeover and simplification of the controller key layout. You know how fighting games have worked so far? Three keys for the punch and three for the kick (weak, medium and strong) plus the various combinations of directional keys and buttons for special moves and special art. With the Modern system everything is simplified, you will use 3 keys for all types of attack that will vary depending on the direction of the directional / analogue cross, and a single button to activate the special moves of the character. For example, for Ryu it will be enough to press the key dedicated to the special stages to be able to perform a Hadouken, while adding the directional arrow back will start the “spinning kick”, as the Tatsumaki Senpu-Kyaku was called in ancient times.
Even the combos are simplified with the Modern system, which now automatically makes 3 of them available to each character in the game, some of which are completed with a Super Art. To access this move, it will be enough to press a button repeatedly to attack while holding down the right trigger.
Even the Super Art will be modified with this combat system, in fact to execute them instead of performing the very complicated sequences of directional pad movement and attack keys, just do as for the special moves, i.e. press the dedicated key to which another key must be added. as can be the circle or the b key in the case of Xbox.
The Modern system is optional so the faithful to the classic system will be able to continue to use the old method, but with these changes we are obviously trying to approach new players who might be frightened by a control system as complicated as the original of Street Fighter.
What do you think of these changes? Let us know in the comments.
