O Government of Rio Grande do Sul reported this Sunday (May 5, 2024) that approximately 421 thousand consumers are without electricity in the State.
The number of consumer units without electricity increased by 50% in 2 days. On Friday (May 3), the government reported 280,000 points without power.
A RGE (Rio Grande Energia), which belongs to the CPFL group, said that 264 thousand customers are still without electricity (8.51% of the company’s consumers). Already the CEEE Equatorial reported 157,108 customers interrupted this Sunday (8.73% of total customers).
On Saturday (May 4), the Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveirareported that 4,000 technicians are working to resume energy supply in the State, but that the situation is difficult because several substations are “under water”.
There is still no forecast for the return of energy in the municipalities affected by the rains, but the federal government prioritizes the resumption in hospitals, schools, nursing homes, among other places of essential community use.
LACK OF WATER
The Gaucho government bulletin reported that 839,024 customers of Corsan (Companhia Riograndense de Saneamento) – water distribution service concessionaire – are without supply. The number represents 27% of the total consumers served by the company.
According to the mayor of Porto Alegre, Sebastian Melo (MDB), around 70% of the capital’s residents are without water this Sunday (May 5).
Corsan also reported that the cities of Alvorada, Cachoeirinha, Canoas, Esteio, Sapucaia and Viamão are 100% out of supply.
