According to a report published by Xfire, Quantic Dream is struggling to hire staff for its projects and for this reason Star Wars Eclipese could come out not before 2027-2028.
According to the article published by Tom Henderson, a well-known journalist and deep throat in the sector, therefore the works on Star Wars Eclipse would still seem to be in an embryonic phase. So why announce it so far in advance?
For Henderson the main reason was to put the studio in the spotlight and attract new potential employees, thus facilitating the hiring campaign necessary to complete the development. A strategy that in his opinion is used by many development companies, but which nevertheless does not seem to have given Quantic Dream the desired results.
As the article demonstrates, there are currently beyond 67 job advertisements available on the Quantic Dreams portal against 60 three months ago (therefore before the announcement of Star Wars Eclipse). All report February 2022 as the publication date, but doing a search with Archive.org, it turns out that most of them were published months if not years ago, even for “senior” positions, therefore quite important.
Also according to Henderson’s sources, the reveal of Star Wars Eclipse also had a second purpose, that is to make Quantic Dreams attractive for an acquisition, an objective that the studio has been pursuing since the end of the agreement with Sony for the three games exclusively for PlayStation platforms, namely Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls and Detroit: Become Human. A theory that had already been proposed by deep throat in the past and, as then, that we invite you to take with a grain of salt.
