Squid Game is a global success that has yielded a Netflix almost a billion dollars in “impact value” (a Netflix metric that calculates the economic contribution of an intellectual property in relation to the costs of subscribers and other types of revenues). More precisely, currently the impact value of Squid Game would be 890 million dollars, as reported by Bloomberg, but since it is still the most talked about series of the moment, this value is inevitably destined to grow.
Considering that the entire series cost less than $ 22 million, so less than $ 2.4 million per episode, that’s a huge, yet unpredictable result.
Squid Game quickly became a cultural phenomenon and as such it has led to misunderstandings and some problems. It tells of a group of people who, in order to try to recover from their debts, or from a generally miserable life, participate in a lethal competition in which they have to take part in childish games.
