Therese Johaug left her old rival within minutes.

Norwegian one of the biggest skiing stars Therese Johaug, 35, returned to the racetrack Sunday in convincing fashion. He took part in a 17 km race in Switzerland and beat his rival from last years, Poland, who came second by more than three and a half minutes. Justina Kowalczyk's41.

Johaug's time in the Engadi Frauenlauf race was 44:07.7.

Johaug left the racing tracks after the 2021–2022 season. She had a baby last spring.

Now Johaug is strongly considering participating in the 50 km race at the World Championships in Trondheim next winter. The trip is for the first time in the women's program at the World Championships.

The level of girls participating in the World Cup is very high, so I don't think I would win in the World Cup if I did.

Johaug himself says that he has not made a decision – yet. That is why he is surprised that this is already being claimed.

“I was lying on the bed and I saw [jutun], that 'oh, I've made up my mind about the World Cup in Trondheim'. Yes, have I decided? Who has decided? Well, at least not me,” Johaug says to the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation for NRK.

“The door is still wide open in both directions. At least this I can confirm: I haven't decided.”

However, Johaug admitted that the Swiss competition was a primer for a possible comeback and that skiing felt good. Still, he estimates that success in the World Championships is not likely if he participates in them.

“The girls participating in the World Cup have a very high standard, so I don't think I would win at the World Cup if I did.”
