Culiacán, Sinaloa.- Citizens’ confidence in their governments has deteriorated since there is perception that there is corruption in the public service and that distrust in public institutions deteriorates the possibilities of social progress and development, lamented the president of the Sinaloa Congress Oversight Commission, Sergio Mario Arredondo Salas.
He stressed that in order to move towards the development of Sinaloa citizen credibility must be recovered in their governments and demonstrate that there is a truly transparent, efficient and honest public administration.
This was stated when installing the work table of the Superior Audit of the State of Sinaloa to address the issues of “Management for results and performance audits” and “Investigation and substantiation of serious administrative offenses.”
He said that the latest report from the Mexican Institute for Competitiveness AC (IMCO) shows that we can all contribute to development because competitiveness is related to the rule of law, respect for rules, transparency and the way democracy is managed. .
However, he regretted that Sinaloa fell one place in the national context, going from place seven to eight in competitiveness. “Ninety percent of crimes in Sinaloa are not reported due to the distrust of citizens in the justice system,” she explained.
He pointed out that citizens are also not interested in the administrative management of public resources because there is a perception that the public service does not operate honestly. “The credibility of the public service has deteriorated and that also affects democracy and the quality of governments,” she pointed out.
He stated that the Supervisory Commission and the Superior Audit Office of the State of Sinaloa work hand in hand with the anti-corruption system to send a different message that consists of guaranteeing that the state government and the municipalities manage resources honestly and efficiently.
“We know that when you invest in non-priority issues that do not coincide with aspirations, demands, needs and social lags, this produces disappointment.
Sinaloans care that things are done well for the benefit of their families and the state,” he said.
She pointed out that the gender wage gap is twenty percent in Sinaloa and in taking advantage of international relations the ability to attract investment has been lost. “Sinaloa has the highest rate of accidents and the quality of the public services of the municipalities has diminished,” she commented.
