Exit in
For the Opinio-Rai exit polls, Renato Schifani would have won the elections in Sicily with a percentage ranging from 37 to 41 percent. The center-right candidate is given 13 points ahead of the second, Cateno De Luca (Sicilia Vera), between 24 and 28 percent. Followed by the candidate of Pd-Cento passi, Caterina Chinnici between 15.5 and 19.5 percent, then the M5s candidate Nuccio Di Paola with a percentage between 13 and 17. The other two candidates (Gaetano Armao and Eliana Esposito) would amount to between 1.5 and 3.5 percent.
Candidates
After the tensions between the coalition parties that prevented Nello Musumeci from being re-nominated, the center-right presented himself united around Renato Schifani. With him: Forza Italia, Fratelli d’Italia, Prima Italia-Lega, Popolari and autonomisti and DC. After the breakdown of the alliance between the M5s and the Pd, the DEM and the parties of the left support Caterina Chinnici, MEP daughter of judge Rocco Chinnici murdered by the mafia, who can count on the support of two lists: Pd and Fava / Centopassi. A single list made up of militants and leaders for the M5s, which nominated Nuccio Di Paola, the movement’s regional referent, for governor. Nine lists fielded by Cateno De Luca, the leader of the Sicilia Vera movement, who aims at Palazzo d’Orleans after having resigned early as mayor of Messina. Also on the field Gaetano Armao, current vice president of the Sicilian Region and councilor for the economy in the Musumeci government: supported by Action of Calenda and Italia Viva, Armao has left Forza Italia. Eliana Esposito of the free Sicilian separatists is also in the running.
