Kalasatama The manager of shopping center Red is changing again.
The central manager who piloted Isoa Omena in Matinkylä From Mika Mustas42, will move to Helsinki in August, after four years spent in Espoo.
Mustasilta is the fourth leader in Red during its six years of existence.
“Red’s initial journey has not been easy, but right now is a really great moment to jump on a good wave,” says Mustasilta.
Last year, Red’s visitor numbers grew by 10 percent and turnover by 15 percent.
Big In Omena, Mustasilta has been responsible for the operational management, results and development of the shopping center. He is a restaurateur by training.
In the shopping center world, it is natural for managers to change every 3–5 years.
“After five years, managers start to have their jackets pretty well emptied. For example, the Big Apple is now in a very good stage, the area around it is starting to be ready. Omppu has existed for 22 years, and Redi only six.”
Kalasatama, on the other hand, is just developing. New residential buildings are rising south and north of Red. The customer base is growing, and the transport connections will improve, when the tram service to Pasila will start soon.
After the initial difficulties and the corona period, Red’s customer numbers have been growing. In the latest comparison of the Association of Finnish Shopping Centers Redi ranked eighth in the Helsinki region last year with 10 million visitors.
Black bridge brings to Kalasatama, according to Red’s press release, knowledge of the hotel and restaurant industry, which he believes will benefit Red’s growing restaurant world and its entrepreneurs.
Recently, Redi has invested in the new restaurant world. Last November, the approximately 500-seat Food Port restaurant world with 13 companies opened at street level.
A few months after the opening, a couple of Food Port’s restaurants filed for bankruptcy, but there have been new entrants to their premises.
Sales in terms of quantity, Redi lags behind the top group. Total sales for 2022 were 130 million euros.
In the comparison of the Helsinki region, Red’s sales were bigger than, for example, Espoo’s Lippulaiva or Vuosaari’s Columbus.
However, Redi clearly lagged behind Helsinki’s number one shopping center, Tripla, which has a larger area, with a total of 306.5 million euros in sales in 2022. Sales per visitor were 13 euros in Red, 12.6 euros in Tripla, 41.6 euros in Jumbo-Flamingo and 17.3 euros in Itis.
Redi was opened in 2018. It is owned by Ilmarinen, OP Financial Group and LähiTapiola.
