The Sharjah City Municipality has allocated 43 teams to perform the supervisory role and monitor distortions in the general appearance during Eid Al Fitr, based on its preparations to welcome the Eid, amid an atmosphere of joy and happiness in all areas of the city, and to provide an environment free of negative behavior that negatively affects the general appearance and comfort of the residents. The municipality has developed the necessary and proactive plans to deal with public reports and comments and respond to their inquiries.
The Director General of Sharjah City Municipality, Obaid Saeed Al Tunaiji, said that the work teams include various areas of municipal work, to implement the various tasks carried out by the municipality, as some teams follow up on food establishments, to ensure their adherence to health standards and controls, especially in light of the demand they are witnessing. It is noteworthy during the Eid, such as restaurants, bakeries, shops selling sweets, nuts, etc., in addition to following barbershops and beauty centers, which also enjoy great demand.
He added that the inspection teams will follow up these facilities intensively around the clock, with the aim of enhancing public health in the emirate, preserving the safety of the public, ensuring that the health and safety standards required by these facilities are implemented, and that all standards regulating the workflow are met.
Al-Tunaiji stressed that the monitoring and inspection teams will intensify their efforts to monitor negative behavior and distortions of the public appearance, and take administrative and legal measures against violations, including street vendors, whom the municipality constantly warns against, and urges the public not to deal with them, especially since they offer goods of unknown origin and practice this activity. In random markets that distort the general appearance, he pointed out that the inspection tours include various sales outlets, to ensure that fireworks are not sold or promoted, as well as because of the danger they pose to the individual and society.
He said that the monitoring and inspection teams will work to intensify supervision of the beaches, by providing large numbers of lifeguards on them, and intensifying supervision of the green areas, to follow up on the public’s compliance with the controls, guidelines and instructions issued by the municipality.
The Director General of the Sharjah City Municipality stated that the municipality will work through the specialized teams to prepare the Eid prayer halls, provide the necessary parking for them, and prepare them completely to receive the worshipers, as the municipality has provided a specialized staff equipped with various mechanisms and equipment necessary to complete the tasks to the fullest extent.
Regarding public parking, Al Tunaiji confirmed that parking is free on the first, second and third days of Eid, with the exception of areas subject to fees on all days of the week and official holidays, which can be identified through the blue signboards.
